My story

And that of The Symbol

I have always been fascinated by numerical sequences and the ancient Sanskrit alphabet. After years of research I realized that I could give value to my knowledge by creating a talisman that represented strength, perfection and balance, and which could pass into the wearer a sense of confidence and awareness.

I wanted to use the diamond, purest stone in the world, capable of increasing the wearer’s energy, and to pair it with another equally powerful element: the number three.

The equilateral triangle, highest expression of this number, has therefore become the third key component for the creation of this unique charm.

This is how I gave birth to “The Symbol“, outcome of 40 years of experience in the jewelry sector.

I wanted it to have simple features that could be worn by everyone: men, women and youth.

I chose the best materials to produce the jewel, and I created several prototypes, meticulously removing defects and imperfections along the way.

It was only with the third attempt (I believe not by chance!) that it reached the level of perfection I was aiming for.

Now The Symbol is a reality capable of making the wearer dream.

My youth and dreams

Since I was a child, I was always passionate about motorcycling: I spent my free time reading the magazine “DueRuote” and drawing the models I loved the most.

This is how I shaped my pseudonym, which still identifies me today: Tom Roger. I used it to sign my drawings, and one step at a time the nickname took hold among my friends.

Thanks to my father, my dream soon became reality: it was he who bought me the first motorcycle. At 13 I was already craving for the feeling of freedom that only the “two-wheel world” can give.

From here on, my life turned into a long series of motorcycles and shared memories with some of the great champions.

Tom is the contraction of Tommaso, my second name, given to me in memory of my maternal grandfather. Roger is the abbreviation of my surname, Roggero, and the name of many champions and famous people of the time, both European and American.

The twine with The Symbol

Once I’ve had understood my chances, at the end of the motorcycle career I embarked on a different path.

My wife Mariangela’s brother had a Longines service center in Turin and my brother-in-law was a goldsmith, so it was natural for me, after the wedding, to start that career.

So in 1976, in La Morra, my hometown, I opened my first jewelry store. Today you can find me in Gallo Grinzane, at the shop inaugurated in 1990.

But the passion goes on

I have never abandoned, however, the passion for motorcycles which continue to give me great emotions: I love following the Moto GP championship and the deeds of Valentino Rossi. I’ve always been a big fan of his and have been following him since his debut in the World Championships in 1996.

His perseverance, his charisma and his ability to never give up have been a source of inspiration for the creation of “The Symbol.

Since this jewel, symbol of perfection, strength and balance, is of great importance to me I would like to offer it to all those people who have done extraordinary things.
